MY EXAM

“SKELETAL SYSTEM”

The skeletal system is the body system that gives shape of the body. It provides place to which the muscles can attach to provide movement. It protects the internal organs and underlying tissues of the body. It stores minerals in the bones and helps the production of blood as the bone marrow produces red blood cells. Without the skeletal system, a person could not move because the bones are not hold together. The skeletal system is very important. Just imagine a human without a skeletal system.

Joints- is the connection between bones that allows movements.
Kinds of Joints:
1) Hinge Joints- are those that permit a forward and backward motion in one place like the knees.
2) Pivot Joints- are those that permit a rotating movement like the elbow. 3) Ball-and-socket Joints- are those provide a swinging and rotating movement like the shoulder.
Ligaments- are connective tissue that connects one bone to another bone and create the stability of the joint.
Tendons- connect muscles to bones. They act like tough cords and allow muscles to pull on bones.
Muscles- are the tough elastic tissue that makes body parts move. It helps the body in performing activities necessary for growth and maintaining a strong and healthy body.

Kinds of Muscle:
1)Skeletal Muscles- help hold the bones of the skeleton together and give the body shape.
2)Cardiac Muscle- makes up the walls of the heart.
3)Smooth Muscle- serves as the protection of the organs and usually found in walls of the stomach, intestine, blood vessel and bladder.
Total bones in the body- 206 bones Classification of Bones: 1) Long Bones 2) Short Bones 3) Flat Bones 4) Irregular Bones

DRILL AND PRACTICE:
After the class discussion, you have to give the students a reinforcement that will be a help for them to remember the lesson being discussed. For example, you gave them a quiz after the lesson, in the cognitive aspect, the students cognitive ability will be measured because they will do their best to remember the lesson. Their retention ability will be test also. In the Behavioral aspect, during the class discussion the students will listen because of the quiz after the discussion. They will listen because they will be afraid to fail in the quiz the teacher might give them.

TUTORIAL:
Studying skeletal system is not easy when you do not have enough illustrations or pictures that will help you. Tutorial will help the students to familiarize the different parts and its functions. It’s really complicated but with tutorial, it will be easier. In my experience, I can’t label the parts when there are no different pictures. In tutorial, you may use the computer or a person who has enough knowledge in the topic. Tutorial will help the cognitive aspect of the students as they are being taught what the things that they don’t understand fully. There are many tutorials that will be of help to them. In the Behavioral aspect, the students will do their part so they will be able to understand their lesson. They will do their best to understand the tutorial given to them so they will understand their lesson.
